Every business that manufactures, stores, distributes, transports or sells food in India needs an FSSAI Food License. We help you apply for the right category — Basic, State or Central — under the FoSCoS system, with end-to-end expert support across all states.

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), set up under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, regulates food businesses across the country. From 1 June 2020, FSSAI moved licensing onto the Food Safety Compliance System (FoSCoS), which replaced the older registration platform.
FSSAI, FoSCoS and "Food License" all refer to the same certificate. Any Food Business Operator (FBO) that manufactures, stores, distributes, transports or sells food must hold one — it signals that the food sold is safe and meets quality standards customers can rely on.
⚠️ Operating without a valid food license can attract a penalty of up to ₹5 lakh and imprisonment of up to 6 months.
FSSAI categories are decided by your annual turnover and scale of operations. Pricing is event-based and shared as a written quote once we confirm your category, license tenure (1–5 years) and the applicable government fee.
For small FBOs with annual turnover up to ₹12 lakh — petty retailers, home kitchens, small vendors and hawkers.
For mid-sized FBOs with annual turnover between ₹12 lakh and ₹20 crore — restaurants, mid-scale manufacturers and traders.
For large FBOs with turnover above ₹20 crore, importers/exporters, and businesses operating across multiple states.

An FSSAI license is both a legal requirement and a commercial asset.
Authentic certification reassures customers that your food is safe and unadulterated.
Compliance gives you protection and recognition under the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
A license lets you scale to new geographies, marketplaces and B2B contracts.
Recognition by the Government of India strengthens your standing with partners and consumers.
Sections 50–65 of the FSSAI Act, 2006 set out offences and penalties. A snapshot of what's at stake:
| Offence | Penalty |
|---|---|
| Selling food without a license | Up to ₹5 lakh and imprisonment up to 6 months |
| Sale of sub-standard quality food | Penalty up to ₹5 lakh |
| Sale of misbranded products | Penalty up to ₹3 lakh |
| Unhygienic / unethical manufacturing or storage | Penalty up to ₹1 lakh |
| Harm caused by poor-quality food | Penalty up to ₹5 lakh |
| Failure to renew within validity | ₹100 per day of delay; license may be cancelled |
Your food license is a living document. We keep it valid and accurate through its full lifecycle.
An FSSAI license is valid for 1 to 5 years. Renewal can be filed beginning 90 days before expiry. Miss the window and a penalty of ₹100 per day applies — and the license can lapse, forcing a fresh application.
When your business details change — address, products, ownership or category — the certificate must be updated. A modification carries a fee equivalent to a one-year license fee, and we manage the entire change for you.
